In the charming village of Autignac, nestled in the south of France, something remarkable has been happening. A group of people from different corners of the world have come together to create, not just beautiful music, but a unique community bound by the universal language of song. At Les Cosmopolitans, our choir is more than just a gathering of voices – it’s a celebration of unity, diversity and joy.

Autignac may be small in size, but through Les Cosmopolitans, it has become a microcosm of international collaboration. Our members hail from France, the UK, Sweden, Germany, Ireland and beyond. Each person brings their own cultural background, experiences and musical traditions to the group, and together, we’ve created something truly special.
It is often said that music transcends language, and that’s something we experience at every rehearsal. Some of us are fluent in French, others in English, Swedish or German, but when we sing, none of that matters. In fact, singing has become a way for us to connect in ways we might not have been able to otherwise. There’s something magical about how music can bridge cultural differences, break down barriers, and remind us that we are all part of something bigger.
At the heart of Les Cosmopolitans is, of course, the joy of singing. Whether we are practicing a stirring choral piece or a lighthearted song, there is always laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of shared purpose. For some of us, its offers a chance to dust off vocal skills learned years ago. For others, it’s the first time we’ve ever sung in a choir, having been put off singing as a child.
Yet, everyone is welcomed, regardless of experience, and that open-heartedness is what makes our group so special.
